Persephone (a band) was started in February 2001. It is an acoustic solo project with influences such as Penfold and A Perfect Kiss. Persephone is a beautiful blend of acoustic guitar, soulful lyrics about love, faith, sorrow, and hope.
Far too obscure for me, I am afraid, or I am just not back on form yet. Been relaxing far too much.

I'm back online now but see we still await confirmation as to P. Btw, Amateur hasn't been around for quite a while on any threads, hope he's alright or maybe he's on holiday? Talking of which, I am off to Sussex for a while next week, it seems I am to be escorted to a garden party on the Saturday (given by an ardent fan of Andre Rieu who follows him all round Europe!) and will be playing petanque on the Sunday. Seeing as I have never played before ......... should be fun! Must have a look at the rules, etc.

A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Angie and Mercia
Seems that you got there. Well done!
I did come across both Persephone and Persephone's Bees while looking for rock bands.
I did think of giving a straight steer towards Stravinsky, but thought that would be too easy. I also thought (before I set this) that Persephone is a ballet, but it seems it really isn't, though it has some dance features. I was very surprised that it is also the name of an instrument. Finding the name of the band to add to the clues was then not too difficult.
I am assuming that you're all going to use Google and other tools in order to do these. They'd be far too hard based on regular general or musical knowledge.
I shall sit back for a while now, and see how the next few letters go. Unfortunately I do have to work a bit.
