      I'm terribly sorry - I have made a mistake in setting the question. Please ignore Mr Morricone and concentrate on the other two clues, the answer to which is not dissimilar from the one you found for the incorrect part of the question. (It's just as well I'm going away for a few days on Friday - slapped wrists!

        Perhaps Ofca was muddling his Ennio with his Enrico:

        Enrico Caruso and Lord Enrico Ashton, brother of Lucia di Lammermoor?

          While awaiting Ofca's return from grappling with the intricacies of flexible hose couplings on German-manufactured water-cooled extruders, or whatever it is seems to be distracting him, I thought an updated answers list might be helpful (I have for this purpose assumed the current E answer is correct )

            Time to move on, I think

            A heart that is haunted, a hope that is dark, and a voice that is beautiful. Which F?

              Mr rubber must be in a good mood, he's gone all soft

              I think these are Renee Fleming albums of 2005, 2010 and 1998
              Haunted Heart, Dark Hope and The Beautiful Voice

                That's me. A softie at heart. Well done, Mercia

                Are you personally familiar with the more popular side of Ms Fleming's output, or was it a deft google ?

                  I'm afraid not. I don't normally go for these crossover, erm, concepts, if that's the word, but she has such a gorgeous voice I'm sure I would be won over. Do these albums grace your shelves? (oh, a not very deft wiki-oogle, to answer your question)

                  a G to connect

                  - a Mahler premiere
                  - a Schoenberg premiere
                  - a work for baritone and xylophone

                    Heavens forfend! I have an Alcina featuring her, but that's about it.

                    I detest crossover, but I make an exception for Dawn Upshaw and Ute Lemper.

                        Helped Deryck Cooke with the performing edition of Mahler 10;
                        Was vocal coach for the Berlin premiere of Gurrelieder in 1923;
                        The Noble Little Soldier's Wife for baritone and xylophone (1948)

                          like lighting, very good, well done

                          (actually wiki (can we trust it?) says he conducted the world premiere of the Cooke Mahler 10)

                            I missed that! I always thought it was Wyn Morris, but maybe he was the first to commit it to record.

                              Time to harden up:

                              What H might be evoked by a wild night in a Scottish sitting-room? A sin of old age, perhaps?
