OK my little sherbunkins, I must away to my bed .... I'm sure that someone will get this L soon & I'll see y'all in the morning
As a clue - there might be what some might call a little deception in my use of L but vinteuil has already made an assumption that suggests to me that he doesn't regard it as a deception ... or has he not noticed?

Indeed .....Pavarotti visited Llangollen in 1955 and 1995, Carreras in 2007. Caballe has also appeared at the 'Last Night'.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Just to say that, should Llangollen be correct, I neither seek nor deserve any credit, as antongould got the correct answer. I merely checked out some details by way of confirmation for my own satisfaction.

Been going since 1947, every year like clockwork, but we tend to think that the only national music festivals are The Proms and Glastonbury
The contentious part is that in Welsh, the first letter of Llangollen is Ll not L - - but I guessed that you would forgive me
Well done Anton - on with the M if you please

Is the sheepish chamber work Menotti's Amahl & The Night Visitor?
There should be a fingers crossed icon
