Never a truer word, Ammy!!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

- a leader played twice by the man from Huddersfield;
- a singer praised for his portrayal of a philanderer;
- a Debussy pupil with something hot for sax, and ahead of Cage by 30 years;
What E connects them?

I think these are Erwins
Erwin Rommel played by Huddersfield James Mason in Desert Rats & Fox
Erwin Dressel wrote some sax concertos though I can't find the 30 year connection to Cage or any reference to him being a pupil of D
Erwin Schrott is (apparently ) well known for playing Don Giovanni and he's the hubby of Anna Netrebko. Dispute with a promoter for breach of contract, settled out of court.

In addition to writing a Symphony for Fun, Don Gillis, born in Cameron, Missouri, wrote Symphony of Faith
The music for The Virginian was written, I am almost sure, by Percy Faith
The title of Cantata BVW102 written in 1726, when translated into English reads "Lord, Your Eyes Look for Faith"
