        Never a truer word, Ammy!!

        My rapid visits have left me perplexed of late too....

        The clambake punt was a masterstroke!!!

              - a leader played twice by the man from Huddersfield;
              - a singer praised for his portrayal of a philanderer;
              - a Debussy pupil with something hot for sax, and ahead of Cage by 30 years;

              What E connects them?

                Jame Mason was from Huddersfield and played Erwin Rommel twice, in The Desert Fox and The Desert Rats

                EDIT: Blimey mercia, you're on top form today!

                  I think these are Erwins

                  Erwin Rommel played by Huddersfield James Mason in Desert Rats & Fox
                  Erwin Dressel wrote some sax concertos though I can't find the 30 year connection to Cage or any reference to him being a pupil of D
                  Erwin Schrott is (apparently ) well known for playing Don Giovanni and he's the hubby of Anna Netrebko. Dispute with a promoter for breach of contract, settled out of court.
                  1 and 3 correct. Well done. Since Mercia has gorn orff perhaps someone else would like to have another bash at No 2 (ie. the third clue in the original question) and set an F?

                      Erwin Schulhoff and his Sonate Hot for sax and piano, not to mention his piano piece consisting entirely of rests.

                      Hope you can now F us (to within an inch of our lives)?

                            Fleming? (Victor Fleming directed the film 'The Virginian').

                                In addition to writing a Symphony for Fun, Don Gillis, born in Cameron, Missouri, wrote Symphony of Faith
                                The music for The Virginian was written, I am almost sure, by Percy Faith
                                The title of Cantata BVW102 written in 1726, when translated into English reads "Lord, Your Eyes Look for Faith"
