well, I reckon Angle with his dogged perseverance and devotion to duty, deserves the B

Actually, watched Corrie and then it switched to Britain's Got Talent (which I have never seen before) and one of the finalists was a biker on a BMX performing stunts. For a moment I thought it were our rubbers until he said he'd been at Hay.

I cannot claim credit here - it was Vinteuil who got us moving.

To Vinteuil the B when he gets here.

Was it? I thought it was mercia that first cottoned on to Lady Pasta? Oh well, on to the next puzzle, I am off to bed. Sleep well.

Oh, yes indeed. Sorry Vinteuil, so much confusion and I know Mercia wants a tiny bit of a rest so I shall plunge ahead (but not get out of bed until 10) with a very easy, straightforward B:

What antipodean B is connected by bits and pieces, a first lady and a petticoat.

None of the elements begin with B.

Are any of the elements musical, Angle?

It always bothers me when people refer to something as very easy, straightforward and then I stare glumly at it, totally perplexed

Ams, I assumed (although I may be wrong) the composer's name began with a B and the three elements were referring to titles of their compositions. I'm not very knowledgeable about Australian composers though (apart from Grainger and Sculthorpe)

... unless perhaps it was a conductor and husband???

                    Hi all.

                    There is another Australian-born composer.

Among his works are four operas.

                    All elements are musical.

One of the operas is called 'Prima Donna'. He wrote quite a few works with 'Piece(s)' in the title.

                              B=Benjamin
                              first lady = Prima Donna
                              bits and pieces =
                              petticoat =

                              Well done so far, Ofca.

For 'bits and pieces', think of another everyday expression which means the same thing
For 'petticoat' look for a foreign word for petticoat and a dance
