Exactly right on all counts mercia! (I know what you mean about holding back when you know the answer, as I had to with Rimbaud) Phew, we have nearly completed another A to Z!! So, a vivacious V for you.

To be honest, for me motor racing is like watching paint dry although I have been dragged along to a couple of Grand Prix, including the Belgium one. The only sport I follow (and then again only Internationals) is Rugby but I do like Cricket and was entirely gripped by The Ashes, I also love the commentary which is usually so funny, especially when Boycott seems to have had a few. I've been playing around with downloading photos so haven't had a chance to look at your V as yet so don't think you are being ignored.

        Oh lawks 'a mercy.

I thought the the ballet was "Union Jack" by Balanchine, who was born in Georgia (not USA).

        Visione, a Massine ballet
        Ezekiel's Vision, a song
Visions fugitives based on poetry by Balmont, by Prokofiev between 1915 and 1917

Motor racing is such an unmusical experience, so unpleasant to the ear.

          Vision

          Prokofiev

I'm after a choral work rather than a song (choir + organ)
can you give the orchestral suite drawn from that ballet?

For those who missed it, it's now available as a podcast, plus a repeat on Radio 4 9.00 a.m. Friday. RW's story, especially the way he told it, was really quite absorbing. And from now on, the Adagietto from Mahler's 5th won't necessarily bring Dirk Bogarde's melting make-up to mind!

I won't give my transport clue now

(just the one vision I think)

anyone for this Visione orchestral suite (German 1938)?

(wish I'd included Tippet's Vision of Augustine now )

Sorry Ofca, I am being slow. I thought anton said he had a Floyd dvd, but this is a R4 programme? I must search it out on iplayer. And what does Dirk Bogarde have to do with the price of sprouts? I am really intrigued now.

Meanwhile, my doctor said I should take more exercise, so I am twiddling my thumbs.

Well, Angle got the vital word "Vision" and the Prok, I only got VW so I think it is definitely Angle for the W.

Thanks, Anna and Mercia. You mean my thumb-work has been a waste of time ?

It could be a few minutes. Patience, all.
