Now I am going out for the afternoon so if anyone turns up here, a decision needs to be made: either to abandon R or to attempt a solution and then go on to set an S, Should be back about 5, following an afternoon of leisure in a country inn, having lunch and enjoying lively company.

Hello A & A and other readers... The unexpected work day yesterday, plus lack of sleep, kept me off the boards - I find that the first thing the suffers with not enough sleep is the eyes, they sting and I try and keep away from screens...

I hope that your Sunday is proving to be more relaxing than your Saturday, Caliban.Have you tried Opticrom eye drops? They work for me when my eyes get bad, particularly during peak hay-fever weather

As to Corrie, I think there was some storyline (before I started watching it again) about the sister being a surrogate mother for Mad Becky, who had to pay the sister for the child (whereby hung the tale of Becky helping herself to someone else's £5 grand from a smashed up safe during the tram crash). We need Ofca to supply full particulars!

Ammy, thanks for the tip. I tend never to 'take' anything, whether it's pills for a headache or other aches and pains, or eyes - as usually a good night's sleep solves everything... But something for prickly-eye days would be welcome

If you don't like using eyedrops (I don't) Optrex do Actimist which you spray on closed eyelids as a remedy for scratchy eyes. Like you I seldom take remedies, also, I am allergic to paracetemol which is a pain. Thanks for Corrie info, yes, we need Ofca's indepth knowledge here!

Oh, that was hilarious wasn't it? I also got confused with Marc/Marcia, so much to catch up on. Did anyone see the other day, in NZ the opposition party are trying to get Corrie moved to a later slot (i.e. past the watershed) as it is too 'raunchy' ? Well, it seems they are 16 months behind in viewing so goodness knows what fuss the current storylines will cause!

(Although having said that, I did pop a few painkillers last week - I think I slept on my left arm, and ever since, and still a little today, I've had an achey, neuralgic sort of feeling running from left shoulder blade through left elbow down to left little finger Seems to be diminishing though... )

My father is only alive thanks to the fantastically complex cocktail of 'things to take' prescribed by specialists after a severe heart muscle problem 4 years ago plus incipient and reasonably benign Parkinson's... Astonishing medical science in play

I heard some very sad news the otherday vis-á-vis pies - THE pork pie shop in Leicester has gorn, closed!!

Oh your pool ol'dad - do send him my best regards, us sufferers must stick together, I say. As my mum used to say about her mother "She enjoyed poor health"

I thought I was developing Parkinson's a year or so back, trembling/wobbling hand. I was sent to a charming French specialist who asked me to describe my symptoms. I mentioned that it made eating and drinking difficult sometimes.

"Difficult?" she said "How is it difficult?"

"Well" I said " Sometimes the food falls off my fork and on to the floor as a result"

She shrugged. Did I mention that she was French?

"And" I said "sometimes when I take a drink, I may spill my wine"

" You spill your wine?!" she said, suddenly interested

Did I mention that she was French?!

Anyways up, the MRI scan showed no brain lesions and Parkinson's was not diagnosed

Oh, glad to hear that Ams (and, that was a funny story by the way) but most of us take rude health to be the norm and we never know what may be round the corner so thank goodness for all the advances in medicines I say as well.

I got well and truly lost in Leicester once, on my way back from Newark due to roadworks. I had no idea it was famous for pork pies. My butcher does a lovely one with a hand raised crust.

Edit: Going back on topic, anyone got any clue about the R?
