          Many thanks for that updated list rubbers and well done to vinteuil, I was completely without a clue on that.

          Quiet again today, are you still playing with your new lamp Caliban - what sort did you get? Ams also seems to be missing today, perhaps being clasped to all our respective buzooms has made him come over all unnecessary! Someone is cooking for me tonight, goats cheese and pumpkin cannelloni which has been promised to be rich and creamy. Hope it's not too bland. I think then we'll watch the final of MasterChef.

            ... what A connects -

            - a one-dimensional singular noise;

            - Basil ('the Rat')'s Manuel singing about Her;

            - a Joycean homage?

              I've just twigged the Rameau/branch thing (sorry, couldn't resist it. What a pity we couldn't have smuggled Stefan Zweig in as well )

                to say nothing of Henry Wood - or Herbert Beerbohm Tree - or his son Carol Reed...

                        I think I may have two of the elements but, not sure. Is it Charles Aznavour (unlikely as that sounds!)

                          ... Charles Aznavour is part of the way there, tho' not the final answer.

                          Would you like to show your workings???

                            At work today but I had a good old play last night - a very nice simple side lamp which was so nice and cheap that I think I'm going to get a second: they will form a symmetrical pair at strategic points in the room... And the amazing thing to me (perhaps I am naive, and such things are, like so much, the on dit of sophisticated Welsh interior decoration) ... the truly amazing thing is that they are touch controlled: you touch anywhere on it, and it turns on, first low - then brighter - then brightest - then off again. Seems like magic to me. Rubberneckerish in fact - rub it a little and up it pops...

                            Ams is probably busy preparing his super-fine pasta dough to apply to Rubbers's taut thighs...

                              Well, Manuel sang part of "She" in the Basil the Rat episode. And, he collaborated on Molly Bloom's soliloquy from James Joyce’s Ulysses with Dee Shipman, (but that may be totally wrong as to an answer for the third element)

                                Anna - Manuel singing Aznavour's She was certainly what I had in mind for that element.

                                I was unaware of his involvement with the Molly Bloom - interesting.... No, I'm looking for someone else here...
