There were: the police officer, the Indian, the cowboy, the biker, the construction worker and the G.I. (I doubt if Sir George Williams would have approved of them).

Initially, before further clue, I was searching for Victorian Charities with the name Village in them. I came up with Village Home for Neglected Girls (In Danger of Vice)

However, the only famous graveyard I can think of is Highgate Cemetery but Mr. Google tells me no charities were formed there. However, he also tells me The Kinks recorded The Village Green Preservation Society. So, I think I will have to say that I am confident that someone else may throw some light on the final solution as I have absolutely no clue whatsoever.

edit alert! Just seen Ofca's. Nope, still confused.

double dit: The YMCA and Village People?

These are yer actual Village People.

Sir George Williams founded YMCA, which also the title of Village People's biggest hit.

        Still baffled

            Well done, tout le monde!
Sir George Williams founded the YMCA (a huge worldwide hit for Village People) in St. Paul's Churchyard in 1844.
Josef Strauss composed Village Swallows (Dorfschwalben aus Österreich) in 1865
Delius's A Village Romeo and Juliet was premiered in Germany in 1907 (as Romeo und Julia auf dem Dorfe).
I don't know who qualifies to set 'W', bearing in mind that Angle is away until Friday. Has amateur 51 set a question lately?

Am 51 has never set a question and if you value your sanity and the good name of this thread, you'll keep it that way.

                But thanks for the suggestion

Just popping in quickly - but I think it is DEFINITELY a good idea for am51 to set a question!!!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
