A clue: any performance of the third work must, by definition, last exactly as long as any other performance. The Hamlet quote occurs very late in the play; it doesn't begin with 'F', but it does describe perfectly the said third composition, which does begin with the same 'F' as the other two.

Vinteuil is right with the Strauss and the Cage. For the second piece, think of another way of describing, say, an A5 pad used by a police officer during an interview.

I see where you're coming from, but I think my answer more closely answers the question. And I think you should set 'G' anyway. Would you like me to reveal the third work EDIT: now, or wait until after Corrie (21.00) when you've had more time to think about it?Last edited by Guest; 15-04-11, 18:59.

Back at 2100. Thus far we have:
(a) Richard Strauss - Four Last Songs
(c) John Cage - Four Minutes Thirty-Three Seconds
Missing (b): Four.......?

I don't think I'm going to get your second element - praps someone else will - but otherwise you had better put us out of our misery...
Shall I give you a G?
"What G links Strauss with two far-off Russians?"

Back, briefly. No-one commented on my news that a former East Enders star is to be next landlady of the Rovers in Corrie? I thought it may have caused a stir. Oh well, as you were.
