How interesting, Angle, that there is such a parallel solution! Great stuff. You, too, shall be awarded a lemon French Fancy.

Cor, 11 minutes apiece for Caliban and Angle...

Ligeti's concerto is interesting in that the soloist plays the only valved horn in the piece - the 4 orchestral horns are all natural.

Give me a few moments to fine-tune it...

              I.. I.. aye aye:

I travelled to Rome, Tunis and Valencia... now I'm soaked in sea water but will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand?

I think the first part is Ibert: Escales (Ports of Call) in the 3 sections Rome Tunis & Valencia? Not sure of the rest

                    What am I saying ????

"will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand" is the cry of a famous Shakespearean Lady. How could one forget?

Anna! I'm delighted to have tee'd you up for your first question on your return.

                      Yes - Ibert's Escales.

Angle has supplied Ibert's score for the Orson Welles Macbeth.

                      One more to fill in?

Small point of order, Mr Chairman - it's actually Macbeth himself who says that:

                          "Whence is that knocking?
How is't with me, when every noise appals me?
What hands are here? ha! they pluck out mine eyes.
Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood
Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather
                          The multitudinous seas incarnadine,
                          Making the green one red."
                          (Act II scene 2)

Great stuff by the boy Shakespeare!

Angle, I think you were thinking about Lady M's obsession with her blood-stained hands in her sleepwalking scene at the start of Act 5:

"What, will these hands ne'er be clean?
                          ...
Here's the smell of the blood still: all the
perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little
                          hand Oh........!"

Well done Angle, that seems to tie it up nicely. (Oh, with all this talk of cakes I went out to the Patisserie and bought myself a lemon French Fancy - 89p each!!)

Oh, it is SO long since I read Macbeth but I shall do so again this week. What a wealth of knowledge and stimulation comes from this site. Thanks, Caliban, I was indeed.

J anyone? I have one ready if Anna, who lead the way, is not at hand within about five minutes.

Anna: It is again very sunny in Liverpool but the wind has changed direction and it is perishing! It is the weather for scouse.

Angle, you go ahead with the J, I only got one part of it, you did all the work and I also have to attend to the mail which was awaiting me on my return (which included a rather nice unexpected cheque!) Glad the sun is still shining on Liverpool, sunny here too but bitterly cold wind.
