Apologies for protracted absence, the lunch segue'd into a reception for another old confederate who has been formally made a QC today. I have enjoyed reading the banter, however. I can promise that not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips - merely 2 bottles of San Pellegrino, a latte and then a cup of tea with the cucumber sandwiches in Lincoln's Inn.
I tried to pre-empt the titters over 'cogitating on my bicycle' (along the lines of 'you clean it up yourself') but thought it was a little vulgar, and deleted it.
I have a 'P' in mind but have yet to formulate it. I must do a little work too
Please bear with me.
Amazing how much more pleasant the sunshine and soft breezes make everything."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sadly, I happen to know the person with whom Caliban dines as she was a mutual colleague of ours some 20 years ago.
Even more sadly, I realise that it will be some time even after his return that Caliban will apply his alcohol-enfeebled mind to crafting a question. I therefore suggest we amuse ourselves more profitably elsewhere in the interim.
P is about to surge forth."...the isle is full of noises,

Here's P:
One P met sus scrofa, the second crocodylus acutus, and the third canis lupus, all three meetings being in works mingling music with fiction. Give the P word, and the who, where and what!"...the isle is full of noises,

Peter is right (too easy! ) and I reckon it's a tie between Taps and Rubbers. Tie-breaker: first to get the remaining reference?"...the isle is full of noises,
