Haha!! I think this is that musical quiz favourite, the jolly old Ophicleide!!

Edit: when I say 'favourite' I mean favourite of mine, as I have been wanting to set this ever since I set Serpent in the first round! I spotted then that the Ophi was used by Mendelssohn, Wagner & Berlioz. As a trombonist, people playing items of plumbing of various shapes and lengths is of peculiar interest to me.

I think I would have got it even without Hector - it was the Mendelssohn and Wagner connections which had stuck in my mind.
