Pas du tout, Caliban. I thought the same as you, was about to send my last message, then the penny dropped and I had to rewrite the message, as it suddenly occurred to me what amateur may have been implying.

    EDIT

Or could the F be "Fragments"...?

Not enough information perhaps so I have added some and removed some

        Tchaikovsky 3
        Mahler 5
        Berlioz
        Beethoven 6

I thought this was gooing to be quick but woke up early, worrying about it.

Scratch Saint Saens from the list. I am ashamed to have wasted your time this morning with a simple mistake.

My great great uncle sang for Saint Saens.

Wild guess work, but is the answer "Folk" as in "... dance", as in Beethoven 6 (3rd movement), Tchaik 3 (2nd movement)...

            No, that can't be right.

I knew it would be easy, in the end

                FIVE movements

                Over to rubberneck for G

I am sorry for my simple error and the confusion it obviously caused; probably the result of over-doing it yesterday.

I'll admit for a while there my head was stuck, gerbill-like, up a Faustian cul-de-sac...

Give me a mo to fashion a G.

Is this a ? If not, fear not Don! We have all made the odd bog-up here! I for one think you've bolstered the old AA thread no end by joining in Certainly not worth losing sleep over! (Nonetheless, you'll be able to enjoy this amazing spring morning, hope the sun is shining across the Mersey?)

Nice one rubbers, even though the thought of the gerbil up Faust's cul-de-sac is going to spoil my day a little.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

What G connects a novel published in 1915, a thick-sounding harpsichordist and something of the night?
