Wouldn't it be good if 3VS resembled his avatar?

I reckon Anna is far better looking in real life.

"Good day", says he at 12.45pm. Morning has broken has broken.

The Channel port is not Calais but you are in the right country.

Complete the Makropoulos response, ie., composer and full name of opera and the event suggested by the clue, and that one is done.

D is not Donizetti nor any other person

Sadly, I completely over-looked Emelia who lived in the mountains outside Liverpool.

Yesterday I trimmed my beard back somewhat, in celebration of the warmer weather but, guess what, it is colder today than for some time.

      Happy solving everyone.

        Good "morning", Angle.

Janacek - The Makropulos Case. Event suggested by clue might equal: Emilia's whisky-sodden confession and burning of the elixir formula ???

          Interesting thought, mercia.

And I would ask the following follow-up question of Angle:

Is the dungeon clue connected to a work by Shostakovich?

Not much to do with a singer dying on stage during performance of said opera. Sorry, mercia, just a co-incidence in this case.

Yes, Janacek. Emilia (Elina) reveals her origins and secret and then resolves to live naturally and, allowing the effects of the potion to wear off and .....

Tapiola, the walls of the dungeon are not Russian but located somewhere in eastern Mediterranean. Perhaps I should substitute VAULT or CELLAR for DUNGEON.

This is a poser and no mistake.

                Good morning Angle

Hmmm. I'd also been thinking if Hindemith again - Susanna the nun in Sancta Susanna is buried alive behind a wall or vault.

Also Cardillac the goldsmith dies at the hands of the crowd, having remained the undetected murderer until his surprise confession at the end of the opera.

                  I'm probably way off though...

And unto you also, Caliban. A thread for Composers I have Met ? That idea might have come about from my misreading of your response when I mentioned Hindemith. I actually searched the entire site for one without, obviously, success. A thread could lead to some interesting discussions, threads, insight perhaps and information. I am all for it but is anyone else?

Not Dieppe but some way along the same coast but not towards Calais.

Not Hindemith this time. This event actually involves two people.

For cellar, all I can think of is Poe's tale The Black Cat.

Perhaps, "La fatal pietra sovra me si chiuse," will help.

mercia, you have the correct port in that selection but two of them are eliminated because they are in Brittany because only one is in the appropriate Department

I am a bit intrigued about why you thought Dieppe, though.
