W is not a personal name

The trumpet concerto is more recent than dear old Hummel's. Is he the only composer best known for a trumpet concerto, I wonder?

Well, goodness only knows. You'd better elucidate your thinking, O Wise oWl. Your alternative may fit the facts for all that I know, or it may provide me with a reason to give you a further clue to Wonderland where Wooing always Works

Is Orlando a cat? Are nuptials involved?

Nuptials are involved, flay, and a jar of marmalade for you and your cat.

Haydn's tumpet Concerto was written in 1796 for the Viennese trumpeter Anton Weidinger, the developer of thekeyed trumpet. There is some evidence that Weidinger knew Haydn before requesting the Concerto, and Haydn may well have been the best man at Weidinger’s Wedding in 1792.

Neat, flay, but more tenuous than the link between "my" trumpet concerto & the music of nuptials.

Well, about the cat... I see there is a hero of the late Kathleen Hale called Orlando the Marmalade Cat who had his Silver Wedding in 1944. This was apparently dramatised at the Riverside Theatre in Battersea Park.

                  Is that less tenuous, Ed?

Now for the other two clues which, by the way, are linked.

[ An aside-- I enjoyed following your link to to piece about the production of Benjamin's ballet:

Andre Howard has produced the saga, and has taught the Kittens their dancing steps and the result — according to Tinkle (he's the boy kitten), who has been studying French — is an " entre-chat" of great splendour.]

Indeed she did, and I remember it being "graceful" but not hymeneal.
