        A crow is a corneille

        You beat me to it. Corbeille de fruits for voice & flute, a setting of poems by Rabindranath Tagore (Écoute, mon coeur, Ce qui me viendra de vos mains consentantes, Doncques la douleur et l'aise de l'amour).

        Écoute, mon coeur ; dans cette flûte chante
        la musique du parfum des fleurs sauvages,
        des feuilles étincelantes et de l'eau qui brille;
        La musique d'ombres sonores, d'un bruit d'ailes
        et d'abeilles.
        La flûte a ravi son sourire des lèvres
        de mon ami et le répand sur sa vie.
        Pacta sunt servanda !!!

                    Perhaps the poet is Jean-Antoine Roucher?

                          I suspect he must be André Chénier.

                            It's Umberto.

                            Umberto Giordano wrote the opera Fedora (Gemma Bellincioni took the title role at the premiere in 1898), and he wrote the opera Andrea Chénier in 1896.

                            I'm struggling with the region...
