Indeed so Frankie Valli came from New Jersey as did the gunvner!

What we now need is a Claude with a Jersey link.

Claude Debussy composed part of La Mer (the chorus?) in Jersey?

He did indeed - but no chorus - even though on the basis of Nocturnes it may sound very good with one!

Cali-come-lately here and I haven't been following but C Debussy also wrote "L'Isle Joyeuse" on (or at least inspired by) Jersey (being a rather saucy commentary on his experiences there with Emma Bardac).
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Thanks for the added spice Cali - time for a K from Mercs methinks.

That may bring a from not a million miles away from where Debussy put the finishing touches to "La Mer", viz. the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne, I think....

Yes, I wondered about this, having not heard about the Jersey connection with La Mer before.

'fraid not - K is a composer - he came from a family of oboists, and unfortunately only had one eye as the result of an accident

caliban set this puzzle last December when Flay also suggested Karl Kraus - but if you "search thread" with Lulu you will find him
