Oh. Malta. Charles Camilleri, 3rd piano concerto nicknamed "Leningrad". Other works elude my web browser

I think it's the turn of the spikey-one to set a question

Wow.... another one I'd never heard of.....
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

not sure you've missed that much
          Charles Camilleri (1931-2009) (Malte)Piano Concerto No. 1 « Mediterranean » (1948)Pianiste : André De GrooteDir : Michael Laus1- Allegro moderato (10.41)2- A...

but for a 17-year old composer I guess it's not bad

Funny that - I saw the three piano concertos but for some reason just didn't register the names of the other two

I'll set a D, but later this evening, just on quickly now before my battery goes empty on my laptop - left my adapter elsewhere

It is interesting vinteuil, also when one considers that the word maqam was taken over into the Sephardic (and others?) Jewish tradition. Also similarities to the Iranian dastgah:

and further afield to the Indian system of raga: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raga

Of the latter there are strong indications that the system of raga was influenced by maqam but they are separate entities, not derivations.
I don't know heaps on this subject but have delved into it a bit over the years, but wiki links are easier than typing.

I'm sorry, I should be setting a D, but I just don't feel like it at the moment. Maybe tomorrow, when my spines are down , or someone else can

I genuinely set questions which I think can be solved, but do try to come up with something new. I don't do it to show off, nor does it matter to me how somebody arrives at the answer, it's all harmless fun to me and I think here at least on AA it's all very cheerful. But I'm feeling a bit churlish at the moment so maybe I should go off and eat some slugs to help out a distressed gardener or two

We're all allowed an attack of the grumps every so often. Enjoy a fume somewhere and then return refreshed at your leisure to give us one of your customarily excellent puzzles.

Shall I oblige? A D occurred to me...

From Weybridge to Teheran during May to December?

Yes indeed mercia ... it's my little Colin Davis tribute question ...

As to the remaining element, what is a characteristic of those months, May especially...?

Errrr... yes... and no... My intention was simply that May-December are the months

                                "following April"...

i.e. singer April Cantelo, Colin Davis's first wife...

His second being Iranian whom he wed in Teheran

                                Having been born in Weybridge.

Your E I think... or our hedgey friend if she wishes to resume?
