      To which I add my own: (if you'll pardon the diabolical liberty )

      How about:
      Lounovice / EMS choice (22/05/2005) / dropsy ?
      Sounds good to me. Y/Z or A, please?

        Z (I hope)

        [And "Lounovice pod Blanikem" might be more accurate]

            Well done Flay - you got it.

            Jan Dismas Zelenka
            Born in Lounovice pod Blanikem; died of dropsy in Dresden.
            And was the Z entry for the Early Music Show's A-Z (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/earlymusicshow/pip/xpx5m/)

              Thanks, Daisy. And welcome to AA!

              I was going to provide the coleslaw but you dished it out beautifully!

              I had to chuckle on looking at the EMS webpage for that date:

              22 May 2005 The Early Music Show concludes its journey through the musical alphabet with letters N-Z.

              Any ideas for X?
              I have that problem too...

                      I'm hoping (after my last posting) that we're looking for Richard Addinsell;
                      ... who wrote the score for the Dirk Bogarde film of A Tale of Two Cities;
                      ... and the Warsaw Concerto, which is something Cimarosa never did, in spite of living there for some months and writing lots of concerti everywhere else;
                      ... stuck on the "storm clouds" bit: is it one of his songs ? Or perhaps a reference to the film score he wrote for Out of the Clouds?
                      ... and the Music for Joyce Grenfell's "signature song" mentioned in my last posting.

                          If ever an answer looked right.... Loved the Cimarosa-Warsaw link!

                            Cimarosa didn't finish his last opera Artemisia.
