    And yes, Joseph Méry when I google also comes up as Francois-Joseph - also librettist to Verdi.

          Nice work, Head-Jog! Only just caught up with Rezza's latest, and you'd already solved it....

                      Hello Sir Velo! Sorry, I was out to a concert. You are very, very nearly right! the brittle bunny is right, but there is some music on it by one Timothy Goplerud (hmmm sort of light classical jazz type stuff, oh well) 3 vignettes on The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, but otherwise Congratulations Your prize is an N.

                          Merci Beaucoup FHG!

                          Well, an "n" to gnaw at. What n links:

                          an ennobled British composer;
                          a tragically short-lived concert pianist who performed regularly at The Proms;
                          an "iconic" Parisian landmark.

                            Monsignor Velocipede, you spoil us with your teasing N...

                            First thought: the composer has to be Britten or Berkeley... So a link involving one of their compositions?

                            Second thought: the name Noël Mewton-Wood comes to mind as regards the unhappy pianist

                            So a Christmassy connection with the other elements? The finale of "A boy was born" is entitled "Noël!"

                                Yes... and no... I still can't think of the right answer for the Parisian connection... assuming Noël is on the right track...
