I've been quite busy so have only had time to lurk. But I feel you were all rather harsh on poor hedgehog yesterday. She is a newbie and surely is permitted to bend the rules a little by way of testing the waters.

I hope that hedgehog can swim, and that she'll float back!

Moravian Thunderbolt Maria Jeritza sang the role of the Empress in Die Frau ohne Scatten

Beethoven's Emperor concerto is his fifth.

                Pure guess work.

Oh Flay and mercia - that's so kind. But yes I'm a hardy beast, don't worry, had other things on today. But I was in the process of answering mercia's question.

                  It's Egypt!

Händel Israel in Egypt (chorus "he gave them hailstones for rain" rather be swimming than hav'n them on me 'ed )

Saint-Saëns' 5th piano concerto is nicknamed 'The Egyptian'. No idea on the Moravian Thunderbolt though - Depardieu been seen lately in Egypt?

yes Egyptian Concerto and Israel in Egypt

                        two out of three

the risenman making a strong case for Emperor, but I'm afraid "not on the card"

                          Ah no...got it all wrong/

'Tis Egypt, methinks. Saint-Saens Egyptian Piano Concerto

Hailstone Chorus from Israel in Egypt by Handel

but then I draw a blank with the Moravian Thunderbolt

And the third thanks to RM is that Maria Jeritza starred in the title role of Richard Strauss' The Egyptian Helena (1928) (opera is not my forte - well I know a lot of the music, but not many of the star singers etc)

RM - happy to give you the Fword ! (sorry couldn't resist the pun)
