        Try this:

        What F links:

        (i) an English Composer;

        (ii) an American violinist;

        (iii) an American conductor with a more famous cousin?
        ... I would so like this to be Friml, Rudolf... but it doesn't quite fit...

            Frank Bridge
            Frank Xiu Huang
            Ray cousin of Frank Sinatra

              No. The link in the third is the original person, not the cousin.

                Seasons greetings to one and all. I'm having a stab at Fritz...

                  I'm voting for Frank:

                  1. Frank Bridge
                  2. Pamela Frank

                  But I'm really stuck on 3, so far.

                      When I said a stab, I did mean a considered guess, although like Don I am having difficulty reconciling the third: 1. Fritz Hart, 2. Fritz Kreisler (Austrian born, but naturalised American) 3. Fritz Munch (brother of Charles Munch, cousin of arguably lesser known Hans Munch)

                        I had in mind Fritz Delius (his original name), Fritz Kreisler, and Fritz Mahler.

                          That looks pretty good to me, as long as FM is allowed to be American. Sort of fritz with everything.

                            Fritz Mahler became an American citizen in 1939. He was first cousin once removed to Gustav Mahler

                              I realized that - wasn't arguing against it, just visualising perhaps another rebuff from the setter as he was born in Vienna.

                              Many apologies, scb, in the melee I lost track of the fact that this was your question!

                                Kreisler was also born in Vienna. The nationalities were deliberately misleading.
