Yes - er.. well done! These pieces are well worth listening to - on Naxos, so available with their online listening service.

Perhaps not quite as interesting as Froberger, but very good. The CD notes accord him some merit as being amongst the first (along with e.g. Muffat) of synthesizing the French style of suite with the German dance suite.

ah well....the reward for this Quest.....

Reminding one of South Korean novelty act Who Flung Dung ...

Thanks. I would have written 'floundered' but it did not have any Ps in it!

Amazing mercs, you've winkled out an interesting Q... I can never find one we haven't covered before!

Paolo Quagliati (c. 1555 – 16 November 1628) worked in Rome inc. composing Il carro di fedeltà d'amore and La sfera armoniosa

But he was born in Chioggia, not far from Venice and rather like it.

And I rather like the look of it....

Lovely looking place, Choggia - anyone know it? (small side bet on vints' Great-aunt Jobisca having un eccentrico ma discreto appartamento in a prime position )

                      Agreed, it's almost a given, ain't it !

I'll await a mercian green light but am thinking about a V...

Maybe I can hazard my V as mercia seems to be offline...

Haydn was true and constant, as Miss Welch and Miss Bosse can testify.
