That's it, mercia, isn't it? Cohn = Kohen = Jewish priest.

        So

        Leonard Tristano - jazz pianist
Leonard Bernstein - any fule no
Leonard Cohen - Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, poet, and novelist (I read)

        No?

            We were!

I will be unable to set the next letter and indeed am going to be away for a few days (bar the occasional look in here if and when time / network permit).

I suspect the crew are going to be looking to you for an M, m-m-m-mercia! (Sorry! )

No there isn't, this was the simple ball bowled after two trickier ones - that's how one plays cricket isn't it?

                Bravo Mercia and Caliban!

I say hodge, are you a cricket aficionado, a devotee of Test Match Special?

I admired your arm ball there

I wouldn't say an aficionado of cricket exactly, but I do follow Test Cricket more than occasionally.
