Three Es: one provided succour to the glorious one although she was more of a blower; another wouldn’t hear of it but hammered delightfully: while a third was involved with a consort

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Edith Rothwell, the Oboist, was Glorious John Barbirolli's wife.
Edith Vogel's BBCMusMag Cover CD of the Hammerklavier Sonata is much admired by Ami. (And quite rightly so: tremendous performance!)
Edith somebody else I'm looking for!

I'm sure this is not good for my health, and I would really like to give it up- but I do have a hunch, which I am unable not to post :

                    Elizabeth Barrett Browning??

Aaaargh ferney! - Sonya and Yetsofar (two defective Russian ballet stars of the 1960s ). Edith is not the name and yet ... you've got one of them correct Have you made a mistake perchance?

What's the real name of the tall one who gave succour to the short one?
