Something seasonal perhaps - carnaval? As in Offenbach's Le carnaval des revues
Following on from people who dissed Wagner - He called his music a pile of warm manure (though probably much more elegantly expressed)

        Carnaval is celebrated in Prague!

        But then Sir Simon appears.................

            No, nor Carnival.

Get ye back to the Underworld (not the factory in Coronation Street , nor Rick Smith's band). Offenbach's is OK, just give me the central character and go from there...

                Orpheus.

                Whose mother was Calliope.

Any use? (I can't find any Prague connection with Calliope, nor anything untoward between Rattle and anyone called Calliope.)

                      My life is enriched...

Let's go back - there are three parts:

It happens in Prague, | but not in the Underworld. | Sir Simon did when by rights he shouldn't have.[/QUOTE]

And we have established that the Underworld refers to Orpheus (but not to the opera), and that conducting is involved in some way or not...

Unless, of course, Rattle ever conducted the conductorless Orpheus Chamber Orchestra - which he shouldn't oughta?!

there's an orpheus chamber orchestra which probably doesn't need a conductor

I can hear you grinding your teeth in exasperation
