A major tinnitus apparently

Forgive me for harping back and plucking out this reference. Wiki tells us that Smetana had tinnitus and that in the quartet:

Its notable features include a prominent viola solo at the very beginning of the first movement, and a high, sustained harmonic E on the first violin in the last movement, which represents the ringing in his ears that presaged Smetana's deafness, although the actual ringing was a chord in A.

It also appears that Schumann also had tinnitus, and this too was for the note A. How odd!

I assumed it was Giuseppe Torelli, Wolfgang Rihm and Johannes Tinctoris
