Top stuff, RM Cherevichki (the Slippers) by Tchaikovsky it is and the Powell & Pressburger film is The Red Shoes.

Any chance of the third and last part, anyone?

Later: apparently not so I'll do the decent thing - it's The Wizard of Oz which features another pair of magic slippers, hence the expression Friend of Dorothy

Over to you to Dee-lite us, RM

A D to link a composition by a syphilitic composer, Harlequin and an appearance in a very long opera title.

Mozart? I thought he was sent packing by the same streptococcal infection (a hangover from the Scarlet Fever he contracted as a very young boy) that also killed Mahler. (Well, not exactly the same infection, obviously.)

Smetana wrote an opera called Dalibor.

                      Just thought I'd mention it.

Nope...that's the trouble with smartphones. They think they know what you want to type and unless you are a bit on the ball, that is what comes out.

Bizarre...anyway, back to this little devil of a puzzle. Are any more extra clues needed? Time for sleep, methinks, early start tomorrow.

By the way, where's the Google-meister this evening ?
