The "Danish" was the giveaway. Waldemar is the principal male character in Schönberg's Gurre-lieder, who curses God after his wife has murdered his mistress. (Sometimes even I think that God gets a bum deal!)

I can't go any further today; my partner's coming home from a fortnight in hospital this afternoon, so I'll only intermittently be seated at the keyboard. If somebody else would take over the baton (as Sir Simon said recently)?
