      Nearly there Mercia!

But I'm not sure that the words odd and even are commonly used for this number!

You're a splendid riddler, Oddball Been turning this round in my mind for an hour or so! A number that is neither odd nor even...? Is it a musical number rather than a numerical one?

It's not Take 5 is it?

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's a numerical one - 15 is closest but not quite there!

As usual with my clues, the wrong answers are better than the correct one!
Obviously no computer engineers on board!. It was meant to be simple!

does this strange computer number, when spoken out loud by a humanoid, sound as if it starts with the letter F ?

do any answers to any parts of the question start with the letter F ?

You have broken the code, Flay!
                              And the other clues?

hexadecimal (also base 16, or hex) is a positional numeral system with a radix, or base, of 16. It uses sixteen distinct symbols, most often the symbols 0–9 to represent values zero to nine, and A, B, C, D, E, F (or alternatively a–f) to represent values ten to fifteen.
