well, there you are now. I got it completely wrong:
I thought RVW was banned from Germany, Edward German (surname), Holst's family changing their German name, Brahms with German Requium and Henry Purcell employed Germans!

But you were the Germanic catalyst Anna - you set the hare running from Gloucestershire through to Somerset.

An H to link monochrome crows, ravens and swans
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I don't think it's essential - I didn't need any to set it... But on the other hand, you are geographically not a million miles off the mark

I do apologise, I didn't see that I had been asked to do the Honours, I had a very early start this morning and have been out all day, first time I've had internet connection since yesterday is just now, sorry.
EDIT: OMG, OMG, I must get me to iplayer instantly!

Oh, Cali, you are all smoke and mirrors I fear ...
I've had an awfully long day, must get something to eat and recharge. So, we are looking for Scandi composers, as mercia says, rather than film music or Edgar Allen Poe?

Just one Scandiman. No fillums or Poe (not directly anyway).

True. Mercia got the right country, though, which could help banish thoughts of Sibelius...

Bear in mind that the word monochrome indicated as similarity between swans and the other birds in a material respect.
