Churchdown Hill, Gloucestershire was home to Gerald Finzi (and Ivor Gurney?? - he is certainly closely associated with it). Finzi wrote an Interlude for Oboe and String Quartet. I knew those.

Indeed very well done - I hadn't realised that In Terra Pax was heavily influenced by Finzi's memories of bell ringing on Churchdown Hill.

I always thought the tune that Ernie borrowed was 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. I don't think Katchen in either of his versions has been bettered in the work.
