Sorry not to have replied earlier - I've been trying to design an emoticon (or smiley, if you prefer) for 'I've hit the buffers'.

The third composer is of an earlier generation.

We are looking for the title of a piece of music, of which each of them wrote at least one with that title, but not something for which they are well known.

I think the third person could be Isaac Albeniz, died in France but buried in Spain?

That's the third composer. He is buried in Barcelona.

You know when you've been Tango'd.

Good joint effort. I think as Anna got two of the three composers it is her privilege to set a U. Perhaps that will take us over the 3000 posts on this thread. I notice that we have just passed 25000 views.

Indeed they did. Albeniz Tango from a collection entitled Espana, Walton Tango-Pasodoble from Facade and Stravinsky Tango (which seems to be the first piece he composed in America)

Great question! I was so close but oh so far!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I don't mind if vinteuil sets the U because he actuall got the T word which was the question.

... o no Anna! - you did all the work - I just barged in somewhat gracelessly at the end. It was in no way my intention to win the prize!

I look forward to the U from you...

Well, if you are really sure, and bearing in mind I am not very good at setting questions, give me 10 minutes to think of something!

OK, this is fairly easy I think as not many words begin with a U and too few composers !!

Which U would you find in a String Quintet by a Scandinavian composer, an Orchestral piece by an American composer and a Song Cycle by a French composer. The first two are living and very close in age.

Ofca, Caliban, I do believe you have given yourselves a teensy little clue-ette as to the U

I have a U quintet from the fjords and several song cycles with the same U but none of them dead or French - I'm growing to hate this thread- does everyone get like this, this early!?
