Crikey! Judi Dench as M is a lesbian?

No.... the two elements are not connected... (to borrow the argot of this thread) !

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

First off....Skyfall....one of the best, if not THE best Bond films. Everything done to perfection. Mrs RM reckoned it was the first Bond that she'd sat through and not been bored for one moment. Not because of mayhem but because it is, for once, a very intelligent Bond and beautifully directed. A real coup for Graham Norton to have all three main characters on his programme the night Skyfall opened. Bardem is superb. I enjoy his acting. No Country For Old Men springs to mind. Anyway, enough rambling.

          W to link...these three, please.

Variations on Listen With Mother? A bit of a cake walk ?

Will try to drop in later but Saturday night is Chef RM.

well I'm taking the 3 elements to be

                            - variations
                            - listen with mother
                            - cake walk (bit of)

Spot on, mercs, a little deliberate cryptic misdirection on my part with Variations

and, yes, that was a clue in 27295 above !

I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask dumb questions

is the Listen with Mother element to do with the Dolly Suite berceuse ?
is the cake walk Debussy's of that ilk ?

                                sleep / beds / dreams / night-time .............

EDIT - I take it that what I said in #27290 was irrelevant
