If I may interject, how about adopting these as working rules?

1. There is no time limitation for answering. If you can answer, subject to the following, then go for it. (Though it is a courteous and unselfish idea, it is simply impractical to wait for other people to think about it: they might not be around that day!)


2. You are entitled post an answer if:

a) you have good reason to believe it to be correct anmd have identified to your satisfaction the three connections;
b) you are unsure of the whole answer but believe that you have 2 out of the 3 connections which give rise to reasonable grounds for belief that you are on the right lines; ( sounds like the Factories Act, dunnit? Lol. )


3. You should not post an answer if:

a) it is simply a vague stab in the dark; or
b) it consists of varied musings as to what the answer might be

unless

the question has been extant for 6 daytime hours or more, or overnight, and nobody has managed to get anywhere near it, at which point general discussion is allowed and clues may be given at the question-setter's discretion.

4. Winning: as there is only one possible answer, the winner is s/he who first posts that answer, irrespective of how s/he came by it and whether or not s/he got all, or the majority of, the connections to it.

And by the way the answer as to whether you can set the same answer twice is NO. That's always been the rule.

The answer probably is William Primrose. He made the first recording of Harry Berlioz's Harold in Italy. He commissioned work from Bela Bartok and Benjamin Britten. He is in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Primrose Piano Quartet was formed in his memory.

I got distracted by the Harry and the P, thinking it was about Harry Potter! Then was looking for Popes (Conrad Pope orchestrated John Williams' scores for the films) Of course it was Hector! The Hall of Fame was the giveaway I think.

I've done a Q before (I have your little list!) but I'm willing to set a quick and easy Q. I don't think we need too many rules and regulations, and personally, I don't think there is anything wrong in going with a gut reaction and making a stab in the dark, nor wandering off into a general discussion, whether about the mythical world of Corrie or the puzzle in question.

The list is invaluable, I have copied and pasted it into a Word document and I did check back as to what the last Q was. (I must have missed the discussion you mention) Oh, perhaps Simon might like to have a crack at it? He started the whole thing off didn't he?
