Or perhaps "a mass" refers to John Newton who wrote the words to the hymn Amazing Grace?

Or James Newton Howard, an American composer? Or the composer and pianist David Newton?

        This could run all night.

No it was due to dense ignorance on my part.

                  I guess it must be

                  Victoria de LA
                  Ray Davies's "Victoria"
Tomas Luis de Victoria who wrote a Mass or two...

Have I goal poached, everyone else having done the hard work?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

No. It doesn't matter who bakes the bun, or who ices it. It's the cherry on top that counts.

Would you like to wow us with your wonderful W?

Not sure I agree, especially as I'm not keen on the sort of glacé cherries one tends to find on buns.

                      But here's a late one...

Bear hunting after an afternoon snooze?

Can't resist a burst from Herr Issyvoo ...

                          The common cormorant or shag
Lays eggs inside a paper bag
The reason you will see no doubt
It is to keep the lightning out
                          But what these unobservant birds
Have never noticed is that herds
Of wandering bears may come with buns
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs.

                            Very good, ams.

My thoughts were of another bear, and brief research found me a critique that exemplifies all that is good and bad about Google:

"It is currently unknown what the talent that made this recording accomplished elsewhere in the world."

                                See what you mean, Flay!

But the answer involves neither Paddington nor a Faun.
