I stay with friends in the street just behind it, when I go to Paris ! But I have no idea about the place ! <doh>

Turkish wrestling, dressage and fashion shows, says Wiki... Anything relevant there?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Mercs, as he said he would, has held my hand and guided down the primrose path ...... he is a sheep in wolf's clothing? I think I now know to what he is referring, and it's totally, totally, deliciously obscure Caliban. You'll be loving it!

Actually, I have my own Wiki. No, don't laugh, please! It's called an Encyclopaedia
No-one over the age of 25 has ever heard of one of those!
Edit: I also have the Oxford Dictionary of Music. When I win the Lottery I will get Grove of course.

I already am, even though I have no idea at all what it is!

apologies, I think I have misled

the relevant events only went on for twenty years at that location
but as far as I can see, the P still exists
beginning to wish I hadn't started this question

                      The Pasdeloup Orchestra still exists.
(Sargent painted it rehearsing at the Cirque d'Hiver, where I believe it played Bizet in its early days.)

wikipedia says they premiered the two L'Arlesienne suites
and that Désiré-Émile Inghelbrecht, one of the Apaches, conducted them 1928-32

not a very good question, and I omitted O to boot

Is that Sir Malcolm Sargent or John Singer Sargent?
