You are correct, mercia. I infer you are reluctant to continue... I'm sure others will take up the baton!

Meantime, here are three P-47s... I always thought they were impressive, pugnacious machines, and made quite a few Airfix models of them when I was a nipper! Loved seeing one going through its paces at Duxford - what a wonderful, low rumbling growl they emit (no, Ammy - I wasn't hungry...)

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Are we looking at Thunderbolt as in Georgia or as in a rather refined cuppa char, Caliban?

          Or neither

Neither. Much more direct than that!

(By the way - what's the Thunderbolt-Georgia connection? Just out of curiosity)

I feel a bit adrift here (no change there then ) - is Zeus the subject of this painting, chucking his thunderbolts?

                  No, not at all.

The three elements of the puzzle (culinary, painter, P-47) refer to works by a certain M...

Is this the chap who wrote a programme called Špalíček designed for illiterates using word processors. For some reason it didn't sell!

How on earth are we supposed to arrive at the answer from those clues?

Not sure what's going on... Mercia's giving it away!

I'll just leave it out there till someone who feels like doing an N picks up the baton... I'll czech back later.

...and the Revue de Cuisine, to go with the Frescoes of PdF and the scherzo for orchestra called Thunderbolt P-47.
                                What a clever question!
