    No, I'm not that clever.

It doesn't necessarily mean this year's, does it? But I'm no further forward. [Edit - cross-post. It obviously does]

Mrs Flay quickly cooked a spag bol this morning for friends coming round tonight for supper. Remembering your recent advice on another thread, Anna, I popped it back on the hob for another 45 mins of gentle simmering when she went out. It looks and tastes far better. She'll never know....

But Flay, when your guests congratulate her on how tasty it is you must tell her you've been accepting culinary tips from your very close friend Anna ..... I'm sure she'll immediately be on the phone to me for some more tips!

The above clue suggests the Oktoberfest which starts in September, I think

                      That's the full set:
                      Bread and Circuses
The Jubilee Line takes you to Stratford, site of the Olympics
Oktoberfest (the one in Munich starts in September)
Epiphany (January 6th, therefore first although last)
adding up to Respighi's Feste Romane.
A good team effort, but perhaps Caliban has the edge as he mentioned Festivals and the Oktoberfest?

I was going to say some sort of Bierfest but thought they must be held in the Spring as the hops would only have just been harvested and the beer needs to be laid down and mature ....... I know nothing about beer! Was the question designed with Caliban in mind, bearing in mind his recent trip to The Eternal City?

I wondered... At any rate, I would have been ashamed not to get it.

Mercia, are you ok with me having a go at a G?

This English G connects another jubilee with French children and cards

My first thought, of course, was Asterix, who had his Golden Jubilee not long ago, but that was just a first thought about Gauls. And now, I am offline for couple of hours (p.s. does anyone here still love reading Asterix? Sudden thought - is it Getafix? It is Saturday night ..) Sorry Cali .....

My 'F' was not actually set with Caliban in mind, but it did occur to me after I'd posted it that his knowledge of the London Underground might help him with the 'Jubilee' element.

YES! I love reading Asterix! (French or English, Anna?).

But nothing to do with the answer, inc Getafix (or rather, Panoramix... In Serbia, he's known as Aspirinix - not many people (outside Serbia) know that...)

Others had got there before I had a chance to read the question, alas!
