It depends what I'm playing. I might lift my middle finger on an oboe or flute, or press down my index finger on a fiddle.

Well I think I should pass it to mercs or even ferney who had more of a clue. I was just sitting in the snug between the bars

And I should have walked the dogs by now...

Sorry for the delay. Mrs Flay-me-alive-if-it-doesn't-get-done had chores for me

So please find me an A, an oboe champion, the subject of a hoax who died 11 years after his death.

Perhaps I should say purported death or we'll never get done!

These are straightforward factual clues (for once)

well I've googled (without meaningful success),

                          - purported death oboist
                          - premature obituary oboist
                          - champion oboist
                          - hoax death oboist
                          - hoax oboist eleven years death
                          - hoax champion oboist
                          - hoax death champion oboist
                          - oboist prize death hoax

and every combination of those, also substituting oboe for oboist - just letting you know that I have been trying
what do you suggest I do now [politely if possible] ?

Well done, but sorry, he's not an oboist, so try oboe....

It wasn't championing as in winning, but in its promotion - doing something first....

I missed that. Funny, I tried googling when I set it and the answer came up. Perhaps you could use another word with hoax & oboe.

This person is well-decomposed by now
