      Good question, Northo!

This W is renowned for his marathons, plays a piccolo, and whose Dutch courage was awarded

like a piccolo trumpet / violin / cello etc. etc. ?
is this all one person ?
          is/was he Dutch ?

[it seems to me that if this person is still alive his award for "courage" can't be anything to do with participation in a war]

Yes, a Dutchman, and one of those instruments. And the courage was a red herring - it must take courage to win any award

I dunno. Not a violin. But a suite sound anyway.

OK, OK. He owns a piccolo string instrument (but not a violin) although his main instrument is the larger version. He has performed suitely in 3-hour marathon solo sessions.

                          And he's Dutch.
