      Cross-posting (I'll learn, I promise! )
      Anna's wotsit summary:
New Year's Favourite (Neujahrskonzert) = Radetzky March (quick)
      Rotten state = Denmark (slow)
Outdoor sportsman = (Do ye ken) John Peel (quick)
Participants in 15th century siege = Men of Harlech (slow)
Regimental marches of various units of the Royal Armoured Corps.
      Over to you, Flay!

Actually, it's March of the Men of Harlech (being pedantic) first published 1794, the opening of which is identical to All Through the Night. Basically, the Welsh only have one tune .... but a jolly good tune it is too!!!
Edit: I'm loving Flay's Groans - does anyone remember his Peter Grimes spoof?

          you are too kind.

Onwards with an S: Handel warmed one in a very nice place, and made fireworks with another. Tamara Karsavina inspired Arnold to dance.

Well, I don't know the answer (obviously!) but I'm guessing the Arnold is Bax and his Truth about Russian Dancers but, I cannot see a S connection. And I may be totally wrong about which Arnold.
(re the Handel, one of my fave proms was the firework music with Herve Niquet and his shoes and frockcoat!)

I've installed a new mouse, it glides like it's on ice but is totally unresponsive to clicking, I think I will retire, it's frustrating, and I'm still baffled by a S relating to Handel warming up something in a nice place.

Go to "Control Panel" then "Mouse" and take it from there.

The warming is the effect of a woman holding this S in certain place; the same type of place, somewhat smaller (no doubt) was recently exposed in the French press

Unfortunately no. There are two types of S: one animate, the other not (although one wonders if it could be).
