All you need is a word in a work by each.

...it would be nice to know whether one is correct (in full or in part)

Many apologies, been busy and then out singing all evening.

The other Gershwin was Love is here to stay.

And I'll refrain from putting myself in the setters seat for a while now as I'm unlikely to be able to give the attention it needs.

Gershwin - Lullaby for string quartet

I'm not sure whether it's my 'M' or not, but I happen to have a question ready, so (with implied permission, and gladly acknowledging mercia's revelation of the key word):
How might a type of vine; a type of goose; a breed of cat; and a strain of a viral infection lead you to four examples of 'M'?

                            Is this at all music-related?

I wonder if they're all marches

M is not the name of a composer, but the chap in question did indeed write, among many other works, a number of marches, the titles of four of which are suggested by the clues.
