Bit of late night clubbing for Am51, sounds like...

    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I have no brain cells left for this question. I'm just looking on and sending in a few encouraging remarks

Serpents wasn't, but Song without End was (following the death of Charles Vidor, whose batteries ran out - he should have used Duracell)

I had composed an easy (ish) Q question. Don't we do those? It looks like it went on to R.

Yes we do! Don't know what happened to Q... Perhaps we can jump back to your Q once S is solved - call it the Lateral Double-Flip...

                    That is generous. Thanks Caliban.

A lucky moment for me as I didn't get the "P" question right although my answer made a certain kind of sense.

Just a suggestion! Others may disagree!

But if mercia gets this S in the early hours, as is his wont, he'll be only too glad to hand over, of that I'm reasonably sure!

                      Caliban out! Night all.

well that makes me think of W H Billy Reed to whom Elgar dedicated Sospiri - then we have a study by Liszt called Sospiri

EDIT - the thrd of Liszt's concert etudes is called Un Sospiro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Un_Sospiro
apparently the fifth of the 5 Klavierstucke S.192 is called Sospiri

                        then I'm a bit confused

Dr Sparrow aka Dirk Bogarde starred in Death in Venice, that city having the Ponte dei Sospiri, but unless Visconti was known as George to his pals, that must be the wrong film

where have I gone wrong ?

Sospiri/o it is, mecs - well done!

Elgar wrote Sospiri & dedicated it to WH 'Billy' Reed - a very haunting piece, very short, worth investigating if you don't know it

Liszt wrote Un Sospiro, a study

Just the wrong fillum, young mercs ... nice idea ...

Dirk Bogarde starred in a filmed life of Liszt Song Without End directed by George Cukor, which used Un Sospiro as part of the soundtrack - as suggested by Messrs (and they don't come much messier ) Flay and RM

So well done, I think whichever letter is next, after Caliban's negotiations with Lats on behalf of the alphabet, should apply.

I'm out for most of today, hence my wish to get this tidied up promptly
