A 'U' to link: a beach near Rome; an Italian astronomer; and an American composer and conductor.

You guys are streets ahead of me. I saw that Ostia was one of about five beaches of Rome....none lit up the light bulb. Trying to track down a 68 year old musician whose name begins with U has proved fruitless. I thought of Galileo as well but the connection eludes me.

Uto Ughi ?
He has won various awards, the most prestigious "Una vita per la musica - Leonard Bernstein" (23/6/1997), "Galileo 2000" prize (5/7/ 2003) and the international prize "Ostia Mare" (8/8/2003).

Yes! Uto Ughi (born 1944) has received numerous awards including the Galileo and the Ostia Mare. Which leaves the American conductor/composer as the tie-breaking third award, yes?

Apologies - I missed your #25090. Clearly, you are the chap to set us a 'V'.
Coleslaw:
Ostia Mare, Galileo and Leonard Bernstein ("Una vita per la musica") all relate to awards won by, or associated with, Italian violinist Uto Ughi.
