Right mercs - I have misled you slightly & I see how - you need to focus on the opera rather than the singer

Cleo Laine is indeed Dame Clementina.

The psychologist is small but not necessarily in stature

        is or was ? Melanie Klein (1882 - 1960) ?

Mother in L'enfant doubles up as a China Cup and a Dragonfly (I think)

EDIT - the libretto for L'Enfant is by Colette and Cleo Laine had played Colette on stage

          Melanie Klein it is/was

So ... link Ravel's L'enfant with Melanie Klein and Dame Cleo?

Was Ravel the onlie begetter of L'enfant?

can't find a direct connection between Melanie Klein and Colette
did Klein do a case study of a child called Colette ?

According to the Guardian "In 1929 L'enfant et les sortilèges was produced in Vienna under the German title of Das Kind und der Zauberspuk – "The Child and the Magic Word". The pioneer psychoanalyst Melanie Klein happened to read a review of the production in the Berliner Tageblatt and wrote a paper entitled "Infantile Anxiety-Situations Reflected in a Work of Art and in the Creative Impulse" for the British Psychoanalytical Society."

Colette's libretto for Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges is a work of profound insight, argues Margaret Reynolds

                So well done mercs!

                    Cheers mercs!

Apparently Klein didn't see the opera nor did she hear the music - blimey

                    Fascinating character, Colette http://www.amazon.co.uk/Secrets-Fles...5296767&sr=1-7

I saw Cleo Laine in the musical based on Colette's life - pleasant enough but I can remember very little about it
