I guess I better come clean
wiki says the calypso originated in Trinidad & Tobago - this may not be what you're after
Vonnegut's fictional religion is called Bokononism. "Many of the sacred texts of Bokononism were written in the form of calypsos."
Cousteau's research vessel was called Calypso, a former Royal Navy minesweeper apparently
I think I associate calypsos with Lance Percival

Correct in all respects. The third has musical connections in a song by John Denver and in the first three tracks of En Attendant Cousteau by Jean Michel Jarre.
Perhaps you will delight us with a D.

Dionysus?
or dithyramb perhaps?
3 Dithyrambs, Op.10 (Medtner, Nikolay)
No. 3, Dithyramb From 3 Concert Arias by Khachaturian
Basil Harwood - Dithyramb: Org ***see Complete vol.2*
Damn fine clue! Never heard of a dithyramb but have been to Delos.

Two items relate to two musical compositions and one to a place that could be said to have inspired another (composition)

Resurrection Man
Not sure if the quiet is because everyone is enjoying the sun or more clues are needed. I do have one logistical problem namely that I depart for London tomorrow morning and so won;t have any internet access after 10am until I return sometime Monday. Of course, if anyone is going down to any of the weekend Proms then we could continue there !
