Some maid won the Schumann thingey and also won some competition in Tblisi.

How near's that for me to have to go through the thought processes to devise a U?
Have you been at the scrumpy? It's all a bit approximate!

        Giya Kancheli
        Ippo-Ivan
        Elisso Virsaladze

are the names you were groping for.

All connected with the Tbilisi Conservatoire - I² ran it, the other two were pupils.

I saw Ms Virsalasze play Rach PC#2 at the RFH - scary lady!!

        It's all Urs

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Regret at your leisure - no avuncular reference in the U.

Do you think it might help if I googled 'Sam'? Hmm...only 17 hits.
[There was an ITV drama series called 'Sam' back in, I think, the late 70s - that's the 1970's of course. It starred Mark McManus - no, not Mick McManus the wrestler - Mark McManus the actor, who went on to star as the original 'Taggart'', but he wasn't in the uniformed branch...Having said that, I seem to recall that he quite often looked 'unhappy.]

stating the obvious, there are a film and song both called The Bells of St Marys
and a song and album called Earth Moving

a bizarre thought crossed my mind that earth movers are called JCBs, the initials of one of the Bach family

His face appears next to the definition of unhappy in my dictionary

The Bell's [sic] of St Mary's is the best-selling whisky in the bar of the supporters' club at Southampton's new(ish) stadium. Sales will probably be further boosted if they manage to retain their Premier League status.
The letter 'U' occurs 7 times in the above.
